Pre- Race
Day 1
The EARS of Ruth

Racers spoke of the upcoming VSRR II all winter of '05 - '06, and by early June Dan was building it's Web site with all the "how to's" possibly needed, while Holli created games, wrote rules and located the perfect Judgemobile. Racers were introduced to Bullistic Bingo and Trivial Trivia -- whole new game concepts. TP was defined as "Travel Points," needed to move a vehicle. No longer confined to one continent, racers would travel the globe. Judge Dan sent dispatches: "The objective of VSRR II is to move you and your vehicle(s) from the starting point across a designated course to the finish line 31 days away with the most points. Each day will have a new location to discover and travel to . . .the contest runs for 31 days - each day of the month of July . . .Four ways to play the game -- 1. Where in the World are we? 2. Bullistic BINGO! 3. Trivial Trivia 4.Aggravating Acronyms, with #1 being required . . . The Winner is determined by whoever arrives at the final destination with the most earned NET UNUSED Travel Points - in the event of a tie on the most Travel Points first one to cross the finish line wins with the most NET UNUSED Travel points wins . . .there were Pre Race qualification - all for polling position, with 7 requirements to enter the race. The judge's transportation was financed and racers were introduced to the fabulous HUSTLE II. . .After a full month of pre-race warm-up, with racers jockeying for position, thumping their chests, selecting cars, and asking questions, the judges sent out clues one at a time to determine racing positions. (a. This place really has it's up and downs b. One Hundred Billion tons of sea water c. If you stand in place for too long you could be 50 feet under water d. Burntcoat Head in the Minas Basin. Name the location --- Answer: Upper Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, Canada.). Helen arrived first winning the # 1 position at the starting line -- six days before the starting gun. . .City Sue promptly invited everyone to a pre-race clambake -- "The lobsters and corn are on me- real virtual butter, too. Dale, grab a shovel and start digging the pit. Someone else will have to grab the seaweed..I don't do seaweed, see ya' on the beach." Hmmm, City Sue came dangerously close to giving our destination -- at least we all know it involves a beach! Suddenly messages flurried, flourished, flowered! -- watches were examined, clocks oiled or replaced, and ZULU became a household word. Never mind that we all grew up knowing ZULU were peoples of South Africa who did beautiful basketry and beadwork. We must now think of it as a place in time, and practice, practice, practice! Hoo boy! -- "practice" was our middle name after a month playing trivial trivia . . .some of us falling behind each day . . . speed was a principal factor...Esme offered a quick address system making it easier to hastily write our Noble Judges. . . and then suddenly it was race time . . .everyone took their positions at the starting gate wondering where the first party would be held . . .what ever happened to City Sue's clambake? . . .The Hollidan acronyms flew so thick and fast even the judges couldn't keep up... as Judge Dan wrote, "The judges - are not beyond reproach (meaning they can be approached again and again) - their integrity is only surpassed by their wit, charm and beauty. This message has been brought to you by Hollidan - Personal Marketing Services H-PMS --- Helping People Make Sense - without getting tense!" . . . (Looks like a smashing 31 days of racing fun is about to begin!) . . .with "Hollidan Opportunistic Mobile Employer - HOME - no matter where you roam - we'll make you feel at HOME!" . . .
