1. Where in the World are we?
a. There are 31 locations that must be discovered/identified and you must travel to that location in order to advance in the race. Locations may be identified by different clues provided to individual racers.
b. Although you can travel to any location you desire – you must arrive at the starting line before you travel to the day 1 destination. The day 1 destination before you can advance to the day 2 destination – the day 2 destination before you arrive at the day 3 destination , etc through day 31
c. This year we may be hop scotching rather than following a logical path
d. You must have the designated number of HD’s (Hollidan Dollars) to travel anywhere - these points are earned by participating in any or all of games (described later).
e. Required Hollidan Dollars for each destination will be listed with the days clues and point standings – in other words how many HD - Hollidan Dollars (points) it will cost for toll, gas, airfare, judge fees, and other sundry and miscellaneous items – if you travel to an incorrect destination you have to use HD's again to get there (limit 3 incorrect answers – at which point HTS - Hollidan Towing Service – will tow you to the destination at no additional cost after other racers have arrived)
f. Hollidan Dolars used – will be deducted from your available HD totals – judges will be the final arbitrator of dollars granted and used – players should track there own HD's as judges can get easily confused, er I mean persuaded to make correction – that is even though the judges rarely get anything wrong.
g. Several clues may be issued each day at different times of the day –
h. Correct answers for the days destination must be posted no sooner than designated times – answers may be posted after designated times but will not be accepted before designated times.
i. Being first may not always be to your advantage – strategy may be applied when appropriate
j. One destination issued each day - participants can answer more than one question a day (previous day’s locations if missed for example to catch up).
k. Each correct answer advances that player one location - there are penalties for wrong answers (HD are consumed) but you can guess as many times as you'd like until you run out of money (HD) or Hollidan feels sorry for you and tows you to the next location.
l. Answers are submitted to both of the judges OFFLINE so as not to give the answer away - time stamp of message header determines which was first in. Only answers sent OFFLINE to the judges will qualify as correct.
m. HOWEVER - Making the answer public (presented to the group) - could be a strategy –(however Dale and Ruth say you may be doing laundry)
n. Racers may form teams BUT as the nature of the clues become evident – permanent teams will be at a definite disadvantage – clues will be issued on the basis of the previous day’s standings.
o. Different racers may receive different clues or they may receive the same set of clues – no one should be clueless.
p. Racers should provide an e-mail address where they would like their clues sent. This will also function as the HELP-US (Hollidan Emergency Lifeline Plan – User System) in the event Yahoo decided to go on vacation in the middle of the race.
q. Judges will arbitrate any needed arbitration and interpret any need interpretations.
r. Special events and daily commentary may be a part of the festivities
Judges – private email addresses – must be to both – only place to send official answers
